The Preston City Congregational Church is
gearing up for it’s 5th annual Scarecrow Festival, scheduled for
Saturday, September 18th, 2010. This year promises new surprises without
losing the charm of festivals past!
Festival starts in...
Don’t be surprised if you see scarecrows popping up around town early
this year making their way to the Scarecrow Festival. By the 18th of
September, dozens of scarecrows will be on display waiting for visitors
to check them out. Everyone is welcome to participate – individuals,
businesses, non-profits – and it is free of charge!
The Scarecrow Festival continues to be a FREE event and a family
favorite for locals as well as those enjoying scenic Preston. As
festival goers peruse the grounds to vote for their favorite scarecrows,
they will enjoy live entertainment, dozens of crafters & vendors and
food galore.
Children have their own Pumpkin Patch area complete with games, prizes,
pumpkin painting, crafts and what would a children’s area be without a
moon bounce?
The
stage is always jammed packed with live entertainment including blue
grass, country, rock & roll. If all of the festivities make you hungry,
there is a lot more to crow about. The day is begin with a hearty
pancake breakfast and is followed by scrumptious burgers, dogs,
chowders, chili, and corn on the cob at the Crow’s Nest food area and
the festival’s delicious chicken BBQ rolls out to wrap up the evening.
If you have a sweet tooth, you will not feel left out, festival goers
can sample pies entered into the pie contest, stop by the ice cream shop
or make their way to the bake sale – chocked full of cakes, cookies,
pastries and other temptations.
If you are interested in entering a pie or scarecrow into the contest or
are just up for a Saturday full of old-fashioned good time, contact
